Imran Khan's Political Future in Blind Alley?



 Imran khan, a cricketer turned politician, is in hot waters after the violent protests erupted on the eve of his arrest by Rangers, a para military force acting under ministry of interior, in a NAB concerned Al-Qadir Trust case  as hundreds and thousands of his supporters were found involved in attacks on military installations, arson and vandalisation of public and private property. 



Since his ouster from power corridors last year, Imran Khan first blamed that  America is behind his ouster from government and he successfully build a narrative among the masses who are reeling under all time high inflation, that United States of America is involved in oustering Imran Khan from power.


Later on while talking to American Congresswoman on zoom he blamed Army is powerful in Pakistan and former Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa is behind his government's end in power.

He sought help from congresswoman 




Later on he held responsible,  military establishment, especially General Bajwa with whom his differences emerged over the appointment of ISI chief summary, of his government's ouster last year.





On several occasions Imran openly claimed that ISI muster support for him on important occasions like passing the budgetary proposals, taking vote of confidence or passing any bill.


However, military establishment announced to be neutral in politics which was mocked by Imran Khan in public gatherings and said only animals be neutrals and he introduce new term, neutrals for the military establishment already known as Agriculture dept, aliens etc.

Early Elections 

Imran khan since his ouster repeatedly said that country will face Sri Lanka type crisis if PDM led Government stay in power and early elections are the panacea for all problems facing the country.

Imran khan held large public rallies in the country to highlight his agenda stressing the government for early elections and he narrowly escaped from deadly attack on his life near Wazirabad  while leading a march heading towards Islamabad forcing the country for early elections.


He dissolved two assemblies in Punjab and KPK to force the fedral PDM led  Government for early elections but to no avail.


Cases Against Imran Khan 

Government has made several cases against Imran khan most of them are prepared on frivolous grounds just to target him. However some cases have firm grounds like Tosha Khana case and Al- Qadir Trust case. 

But Imran Khan tried to escape the courts  proceedings by not appearing  their.

In one case Islamabad Police tried to comply Court's orders in a non bailable warrant Court case but his supporters put severe resistance and  repulsed the Police who come to arrest him.

Imran Khan's Rehtoric 

Imran khan in his speeches repeatedly said that if he was arrested then violence will erupted which will not be controlled by any one.


PTI supporters labeled Imran Khan as their red line and warned of dire consequences if Imran Khan was arrested.



Imran Khan's Arrest from Islamabad High Court 


On 9 May 2023, NAB with the help of Rangers arrested Imran Khan in Al- Qadir Trust case from Islamabad High Court premises and shifted him to NAB Headquarters Rawalpindi.

Imran Khan's supporters took to streets in all over Pakistan, especially Punjab and KPK and attacked and looted military installations and played hovac with public and private property of innocent people.






PTI workers who created mayhem on 9
and 10 May 2023, have been  identified by vedios and most of them have been arrested.

Army's Reaction

ISPR Director General Maj General Ahmad Sharif Chaodry gave reaction one day after the mayhem and told that Army showed restraint against the miscreants and termed 9 May as black day.

Corps Commander’s Conference


A special Corps Commander’s conference was held in GHQ in which it was decided that no-one involved in military installations destructions will be spared and culprits will be trialed in military courts under official Secret Act.

Security Committee Meeting 


Security Committee meeting was also held after the Corps Commander’s Conference who endorsed the decisions taken at the conference.

Imran Khan's Reaction 

Imran Khan's arrest was declared unlawful by the Supreme Court's three member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial and asked Imran Khan to approach Islamabad High Court for bail who subsequently gave blanket bail cover to Imran Khan in every known and unknown cases till 15 May 2023.


Imran khan while seeking bail from Islamabad High Court put serious allegations on Chief Of Army Staff General Asim Munir and told the reporters while talking to international media that Chief of Army Staff is behind his arrest.

Earlier he blamed DG 'C' Maj General Faisal Naseer that he is poltting to assassinate him.

Moreover, Imran Khan in retaliation put balme on agencies representatives that they destroyed the Army installations just to malign PTI and Imran Khan and demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the incidents of 9 and 10 May under Chief Justice of Pakistan to find out the reasons of mayhem.


Army is furious and prepre to respond vehemently to the incidents of putting on fire and looting Corps Commander’s house, army monuments defaced and Pakistan Air Force modle jet was set on fire in Mianwali.

Imran khan in vedio message told that he is being planned to be trialed under Army Act and sentenced to jail for ten years.

Some analysts are of the view that PTI may be banned in the aftermath of 9 and 10 May incidents as Imran khan has challenged the supremacy of Army establishment who is in power corridors overtly or covertly for the 70 years.
