Carlos Alkaraz defeats Novak Djokovic to win maiden Wimbledon title



 


20 years old, Spanish player Carlos Alkaraz won his first men's Wimbledon title by defeating seven times winner Novak Djokovic who was considered  most favourite for the title.


Carlos Alkaraz beat Novak Djokovic in five sets 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6 and 6-4.


Carlos Alkaraz won his 2nd grand salam tournament in less than a year. Earlier he won US open.


Spanish star Carlos Alkaraz also finished Novak Djokovic's record of  being unbeaten in 34 matches at the All England Tennis Club and won maiden Wimbledon title. He also stopped Djokovic to reach 24th grand salam crown. Alkaraz also denied Djokovic  equalising the record of Roger Federrer's  eight wins of Wimbledon title.
