• Twitter was founded in March 2006 and launched in July same year in San Francisco California USA.

•   A team named Jack Dorsey, Noa Glass, Biz Stone and Evan Williams founded and launched twitter. 

• First CEO of twitter was Jack Dorsey from 2006 to 2008.

• Twitter started from scratches and attain popularity slowly.

• Twitter gained popularity in year 2007 during south by southwest interactive conference, during which twitter tweets increased from 20000 per day to 60000 per day.

• Twitter reached 100 million active monthly users  in September 2011.

• In December 2012, Twitter surpassed 200 million active monthly users.

•  On 27 May 2022, Elon Musk buy twitter for US$44 billion .

• Presently twitter is led by Elon Musk. 

• Unverified twitter users have 280 characters limit.

• For blue badge twitter charge $8 per month and thier characters limit increase to 25000.

• Users who don't enjoy blue badge facility can upload 2 minutes and 20 seconds vedio on twitter.

• Threads launched on July 6 2023 by meta in USA 🇺🇸, UK and 100 other countries. 

• Threads reached 10mn users in first 7 hours of its launch. 

• Threads catching huge user base on the backing of Instagram and efforts of Mark Zuckerberg.

• Presently, Threads is led by meta owner Mark Zuckerberg. 

• Threads allow users to retain followers from Instagram and keep same user name.

• Privacy concerns have delayed Threads launch in Europe as it collect more user data than twitter. 

• Threads app has 500 characters count limit and 5 minutes vedio sharing duration. 

• On Threads blue badge is kept by verified Instagram account holders for free.

• Threads users need Instagram account for working. When creating a profile the app will give an option to import followers and bio information from an existing Instagram account thus benefiting the app hugely. 

• This will        benefit Threads having access to large user-base of Instagram. 

• Some techies have termed Threads app as "twitter killer".

• Threads launched by meta without ads to attract more users.
• Direct messaging facility is not available on Threads.
